By performing a factory reset or a hard reset, all the data from the device will be wiped. However, any data stored in your Google account can be restored back to the device, all the apps and their associated data will be lost. So it is always recommended to backup your smartphone so that the necessary data is always safe.
This post will show how to hard reset Google LG Nexus 5 Android smartphone. Google Nexus 5 can be reset to factory settings using the Settings menu in the phone.

Hard resetting a phone is generally done by typing a certain code or pressing a specific combination of keys on the phone. Knowing how to perform hard rest of a phone comes handy when the phone suffers a virus attack or if the device freezes and becomes unresponsive. Hard reset can also be done if user wants to sell the phone and he needs to erase all the personal data. But before performing a hard reset on any phone, ensure the following:
  • See that the battery of the phone is at least 70% charged.
  • Backup all necessary data if possible from the phone because hard reset wipes away all the data from the phone.
    For any phone, backup should be done on an external storage device like a hard disk.

Hard reset Android

Performing hard reset on a phone clears the entire phone’s data and so taking backup of all the data in the phone like pictures,videos, music, documents, contacts etc is very important. Read the following articles to know how to back up the data of an Android phone before performing a hard rest:

After making sure that back up of all the data of the Android phone is taken, the user can proceed to perform hard rest of the phone.

Hard rest of any Android phone can be done in any one of the following three ways:

1. Press Home key -> Menu key, then go to  Settings -> Privacy -> Factory Data Reset.
