Android 4.4.3 update for Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition

It was just yesterday that we have seen that the Android 4.4.3 update is being rolled out to the Nexus devices over-the-air (OTA). Now, it’s time for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition(GPE) users also to check for updates on their phone and update it to Android 4.4.3 via OTA update.

It is still not clearly known which Google Play Editions (GPE) are going to receive the update as there are many manufacturers like HTC, Motorola, Samsung and Sony who released the GPE editions.
Meanwhile, there has been an announcement from Motorola that the Android 4.4.3 update will be released OTA to the Moto X, Moto E and Moto G smartphones.

Nexus devices get Android Kitkat 4.4.3 update

The Over-The -Air (OTA) updates for the Nexus devices are being given out, starting today.First to receive the OTA update is the the 2013 Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi only model) to Android Kitkat 4.4.3 (build number KTU84L).
Next Nexus that recieved the OTA update was the Nexus 5 to upgrade from build number KOT49H to KTU84M. The OTA update file for the devices are of the size below 100 MB. New features of this update are not yet available but the improvements by this update could be security enhancements and various bug fixes.

Until now, the Nexus devices receiving the OTA updates to Android 4.4.3 Kitkat are the NExus 7 and Nexus 5. More Nexus devices will be getting the OTA to Android 4.4.3 update very soon.

WhatsApp returns to Windows Phone with an update

The major messenger app WhatsApp has returned to the Windows Phone yesterday (30th May 2014) and not only has it returned but it also brought an update! This updated version of WhatsApp on Windows Phone is the v2.11.490.0.

  • Chat Backgrounds are updated
  • Broadcast Lists
  • Privacy Settings

Retrieve mistakenly sent emails on Blackberry with ‘UnSend Email’

Most often, it happens that we forget to attach documents or images while sending emails. But it is of no use regretting after clicking ‘send’. Users with Blackberry  phone running on ‘Blackberry 10′ OS  now need not worry about this. An app called “UnSend Email” lets the Blackberry users retrieve their email and stop it from reaching the destination if it is mistakenly sent.

Unsend Email app works this way: Whenever an email is sent from the Blackberry, the app will hold these sent mails for a specific time duration. This hold time is the time that the email waits in a queue and within this time, the user can undo orunsend the email.ad

How to backup contacts from iPhone

To backup all the contacts from iPhone, users now have a free app called “My Contact Backup” available on the iTunes for free to download and install. This app has the following features in taking backup of the contacts from iPhone:

  • No internet connection required. This app emails the file consisting of all the contacts to the user specified email address.
  • Restoring the contacts back into the phone is easy. It does not require any other app to restore the backup file.
  • This app can be used not only on iPhone, but also on iPad and iPod touch.
  • A reminder can be set within the app so that the user gets reminded periodically to take backup of the phone’s contacts. Presently, weekly or monthly reminder is available within the app.
  • The contacts that will be taken back up can be saved as vCard (VCF) file or CSV files. File in any of the above format can be emailed to the specified email address.

  • Once the app is installed, it will be seen as “MC Backup” on the user’s iOS device.
  • Tap on it to launch the app and a screen which shows the total number of contacts in the phone appears.
  • Below the number of contacts, a green button option saying “Backup” will also appear.
  • Tap on the backup button and the app starts to create a backup file of all the contacts. A progress bar appears at the bottom of the screen.
