Nexus devices get Android Kitkat 4.4.3 update

The Over-The -Air (OTA) updates for the Nexus devices are being given out, starting today.First to receive the OTA update is the the 2013 Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi only model) to Android Kitkat 4.4.3 (build number KTU84L).

Next Nexus that recieved the OTA update was the Nexus 5 to upgrade from build number KOT49H to KTU84M. The OTA update file for the devices are of the size below 100 MB. New features of this update are not yet available but the improvements by this update could be security enhancements and various bug fixes.

Until now, the Nexus devices receiving the OTA updates to Android 4.4.3 Kitkat are the NExus 7 and Nexus 5. More Nexus devices will be getting the OTA to Android 4.4.3 update very soon.

The Xperia T3 with the stylish stainless steel frame and a 5.3 inch display, claims to be the world’s slimmest phone of this screen size yet.The stainless steel frame of the Sony Xperia T3 not only adds style to the smartphone but also works as an antenna. The back cover is designed with matte material so as to give the phone a slim and light look.

Android 4.4.2 for samsung devices and Android 4.4.3 being tested on Galaxy S5 and S4

Few Samsung devices already have Android 4.4 Kitkat but it seems that many other low end and the mid-range devices of Samsung will be receiving the firmware update to Android Kitkat version 4.4.2 in the coming months.

Also, Samsung is planning on rolling out Android 4.4.3 (build number KTU70) for some of its devices like the Galaxy s5 (for both Snapdragon and Exynos models i.e  SM-G900H and SM-G900F models) and the Galaxy S4 LTE-A i.e the GT-I9506A. SamMobile   posted  the documents that show that Samsung has been testing Android 4.4.3 for Galaxy S5 and S4.

For Galaxy S4, earlier it was said that it would be getting an update to Android 4.4.2 , but now it seems like Samsung will skip the Android 4.4.2 update to Galaxy S4 and directly jump to Android 4.4.3 update.

Along with this new Android 4.4.3 update, which can be expected before the end of June this year, Android 4.4.2 can be expected to be available for the devices Galaxy Grand 2 and Galaxy Mega in the month of June.

While Android 4.4.2 has already begun being available to Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE GT-I9305, Galaxy Note 3 Neo will receive the Android 4.4.2 update by the end of May 2014.

SONY upgrade to Android 4.4 for Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z

Just today, Sony has released its Android 4.4 update for its Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia tablet Z. This is available in select markets from today and will be available in more markets in the coming few days.

According to Sony, this new update brings the following features to the said smart devices. These are almost the same features that the update brought to Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Compact but let’s have a look at the following list to have a better idea:

• Update to Android 4.4 Kitkat:

  The said Sony devices, Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z will have an option to upgrade from Android JellyBean to the latest version 4.4 of Android – Kitkat

• Live wallpaper and sleek launch animation for Sony PlayStation4: 

  Across the lock and home screens, Sony added the new sleek launch animation and live wallpaper for its PlayStation 4. Along with this, a “Revamped Status bar and a Quick Settings” are added which can be customized.

SONY Android 4.4 update for Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact

SONY has rolled out an update for its smartphones- Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Compact which includes the new Google’s Android 4.4 version. This update results in some neat features and adds a few performance tweaks says SONY. The additional features that the company will make available to its users are listed below:

• Android 4.4 Kitkat:

  Sony provides an option to upgrade to the Google’s new Android 4.4 Kitkat for these Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Compact and Xperia Z1 devices.

• A tweaked status bar and Quick Settings 

  This new status bar can be now customized and has the flexibility of letting the user choose which notifications are to be displayed. So by this, the user can cut off all the clutter and have only those notifications which are really needed.
