Angry Birds seasons gets updated(4.1.0.0) with 24 free levels for Windows Phone

Of the many versions available, Angry Birds Seasons is the one to receive an update today on the Windows Phone platform. Rovio has updated the Windows Phone version of Angry Birds Seasons to version 4.1.0.0 and has introduces 24 free new levels to have fun with!

Remarkably, this is the same update the the Android version received two months ago! On the Windows Phone platform, along with these 24 levels come many new challenges and three bonus levels to get you occupied.

How to use ‘inner circle’ with Cortana on Windows Phone

Cortana, as it says, does try to make life of Windows Phone users a bit easier. When you turn on ‘Quiet Hours’ in Cortana’s notebook on Windows Phone, she takes all the responsibility to see that you are not disturbed by any calls or messages until you turn off those ‘Quiet Hours’.

But there may be also some people, to whom you give the flexibility to call or text you even when you wanted some ‘Quiet Hours’. Adding those people to ‘inner circle’ makes Cortana understand that, it is OK to allow calls or texts from these people even during ‘Quiet Hours’.

Microsoft announces Lumia Denim as the next update for Lumia Windows Phone

Microsoft, at Berlin today, announced the next update for Lumia Windows Phones -the Lumia Denim!  From the press conference today, every Windows Phone enthusiast was expecting the announcement of the new Lumia Devices like the Lumia 730 and Lumia 830.

Prior to the announcement of these devices, to much surprise, Microsoft announced Lumia Denim to be the next software update for Lumia devices. The features that come with the Denim update are as exciting as the announcement.

The first and foremost was the “Hey! Cortana” feature. This is introduced to bring a more hands-free usage of Cortana on Windows Phone by voice activation. As of now, we need to unlock the phone  first and then reach out to Cortana through its app button or through the search button. But without needing to do all those, “Hey! Cortana” is coming to Windows Phone users to make life a bit more easier than it is doing now. With Lumia Denim, to access Cortana, all one needs to do is say “Hey! How to Set up Cortana alpha ( India, Australia, Canada)

Yesterday, Microsoft has pushed the Windows Phone Update 1 (GDR 1) for all the Windows Phones that have been registered with the Developers Preview program. This update includes a lot of new features like Live Folders support, Live Store Tile, Cortana (for China, UK, India, Australia and Canada), IE enhancements and a lot more.

NOTE: Make sure that you have installed Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 (GDR1) on your Windows Phone before proceeding with any of the below given steps.

1. Swipe left on the Start screen to go to App List.

2. Go to Settings -> Language

3. select one of the below based on your language preferences:

 - English (Australia)

- English (Canada)

- English (India)

When you select a language different to the previous on your Windows Phone, you may need to restart your phone.

Official Facebook app for Windows Phone updated to 8.3.1.0, gets the latest beta features

The official Facebook app for Windows Phone has now been updated and is now on par with the Facebook beta app for Windows Phone, except the support for additional languages hasn’t been added.

The changelog of the update includes:

- Improved performance

Last week, Joe Belfiore of Microsoft made the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 (GDR1) official while also revealing Cortana’s arrival to China, UK, India, Australia and Canada. Nokia has started rolling out the most awaited Lumia Cyan update to Lumia Windows Phones since last week. So far, Lumia 625, Lumia 925 and Lumia 1520 have been the ones to receive the update. Today it is the turn of Lumia 1320. The page from the official Nokia website confirms this news and leaves the Lumia 1320 users at joy.

Microsoft takes down Siri with Cortana in its new Windows Phone 8.1 commercial

Microsoft shows a simple Siri vs. Cortana in its latest Windows Phone 8.1 commercial.  It compares the iPhone 5S  with Siri and the Lumia 635 with Cortana and shows how Cortana is much more capable than Siri as Cortana handles reminders -both people based and location based -  and gives traffic updates while Siri stays behind unable to do such tasks.

The commercial ends with Siri admitting “Now, that’s a smartphone” . While it slightly looks odd while Microsoft tries to compare iPhone 5s with Lumia 635, Microsoft focuses on pitting Siri against Cortana. Enjoy the video!

Windows Phone 8.1 update 1 to include support for folders and interactive cases

While the Windows Phone 8.1 is still to be rolled out to most of the Windows phone models around the world, it seems that Microsoft is already planning to release update 1 of the Windows Phone 8.1. While most of the features this update brings are said to be for the manufacturers, there are also few changes that could be to the consumer side.

One of those is the native folder support, the feature which already iOS and Android platforms have, which allows users to segregate different apps into a folder.

Facebook beta app for Windows Phone picks up a minor update 8.3.0.4

Microsoft has pushed a small update to the beta version of Facebook app for Windows Phone. Even though it is named as ‘beta’, Facebook beta is a seamless app and offers the new features before they are updated to the official version of the Facebook app.

Today, the Facebook beta app from Microsoft has received a minor update and changed the version of the app to 8.3.0.4. The previous update which brought the app to version 8.3.0.3 (or 5.3.0.3 for Windows Phone 8) has brought some new features including Messenger support.

BBM Beta for Windows Phone picks up an update (1.0.0.4)

BBM beta app which was made available to select registered users picked up a small update yesterday.  The app went to from version 1.0.0.2 to version 1.0.0.4.

BlackBerry has not provided any changelog for the update at first and it was expected that the update would bring bug fixes and improvements. No new features were expected as the version number change is a small one. Later, BlackBerry has updated with the changelog and mentioned that the update improved many things like:  app launch time, sending email invites, time taking to switch to a newer device from an older one, device global language settings, sending queued invite/acceptances and many more.

Telegram Messenger now for Windows Phone

Until recently, it was said that ‘Ngram’ , the unofficial Telegram Messenger app would be declared as official by the Telegram Team. But now, the Windows Phone Store shows the Ngram app re-branded as the Telegram messenger Beta. The version of this Telegram Messenger Beta is v0.14.5.27.

News is that, Telegram has open-sourced its app development and paved way for a contest in which it lets number of other developers to bring up messenger apps similar to it for Windows Phone platform and then Telegram team would chose the best among them and declare it as the official Telegram messenger app for Windows Phone
